Taken By Canadians

After forming in 2012, Ambrosini’s transparent lyrics and the groups irreverent approach quickly won regional attention, earning the band regular airplay on 91X FM. With genre-defying sincerity and timeless Rock N Roll, Taken By Canadians was determined to put songwriting before genre and heart before perfection. So when it came time to record their third release, “Taken By Canadians” lead singer Ben Ambrosini adds, “This is the first record where I’ve just let go and let myself find out what it was going to sound like.” In the spirit of uninhibited musicality, TBC unleashed an unfiltered sonic outpouring, one that “finally” reflects the dynamic of the bands. “With this record I made it a point to look at who I am, and who we are, sonically, and as people, and I’m ok with it. I’m not apologizing for it” Says Ambrosini.

Their Self-Titled LP is a starkly beautiful and vitreous immersion into the unmistakable swagger of Southern California. With crowd favorites like “The River” and “Side of the Road”, the band puts their thumbprint on the indelible legacy of Golden State Rock N Roll. (Imagine Sticky Fingers performed by The Velvet Underground at A Flaming Lips concert.) Now, with three albums under their belts and the wind at their backs, Taken By Canadians are charging headlong into a new era of music – one that has seen the seismic shift from live to online. Always flagrantly honest, elegantly melodic, blissfully contrary and loud as all hell, Taken By Canadians remains a constant reminder that classic rock wouldn’t sound classic if it were made today. Fortunately Taken By Canadians aren’t interested in singing about yesterday.
